Money sent from Armenia to India arrives either as a bank deposit or as cash collected at an agent, under India's Money Transfer Service Scheme for personal remittances. Armenia's foreign-exchange rules are liberal, with no capital controls on bank-mediated transfers, so you can send freely through a licensed operator. India caps each transfer and how often a person can receive, so a larger amount may need to go by bank rather than cash. The upfront fee is only part of the cost. What really decides how many rupees arrive is the margin added to the exchange rate, so compare the amount that actually reaches the recipient, not just the fee.
Why Armenia to India shows no live prices yet
Currency Expert's live comparison engine prices transfers that start in the UK and a handful of other major sending countries, where the providers we connect to operate. None of them currently quote transfers that start in Armenia, so the route comes back empty even though money genuinely moves on it.
Armenia's foreign-exchange rules are liberal, so sending is straightforward, but India receives personal remittances under a regulated scheme with its own caps. Until we can pull live Armenia rates, this page lists the operators verified to serve the corridor rather than a live price table. Treat it as a shortlist, not a quote, and confirm the rate, fee and limits before you commit.
How the money reaches India
Money into India arrives under the Money Transfer Service Scheme, which covers personal remittances such as family support. The recipient can take it as a bank deposit or collect it as cash, though cash is capped per transfer, so a larger amount is credited to a bank account instead.
For a bank deposit, you'll need the recipient's full name, account number and IFSC code (India does not use IBANs). For cash, they collect with a government photo ID and the reference number. You send from an Armenian bank or agent, in person or online, with your own ID.
What sending money to India really costs
The headline fee is only part of the cost. On most transfers the bigger number is hidden inside the exchange rate, so it helps to know where each slice goes before you send.
The exchange-rate margin
Operators usually add a margin to the mid-market rate on the way to the rupee, often via the US dollar since outward transfers are settled in dollars. On a larger transfer this margin can outweigh the upfront fee, so compare the rupees that actually arrive.
Armenia's open regime
Armenia has no capital controls on bank-mediated transfers, so competition is healthy and you can send freely. Still, the rate varies between operators, so check what you are actually offered before you send.
The scheme's caps
India's scheme limits each transfer to about US$2,500 and each person to 30 transfers a year, with cash capped at ₹50,000. Sending a larger sum means using a bank payout, or spreading it across transfers, so factor the caps in when you plan a big payment.
Rules on each side
Sending from Armenia
Armenia has a liberal foreign-exchange regime, regulated by the Central Bank of Armenia, with no capital controls on bank-mediated transfers for legitimate purposes. You send through a licensed operator, in person or online, with your ID, and the operator runs standard identity checks. Use a regulated operator rather than an informal channel, and confirm the fee and rate before you send.
Receiving in India
Inbound personal remittances are received under India's Money Transfer Service Scheme, regulated by the Reserve Bank of India under FEMA. The scheme allows up to about US$2,500 per transfer, a maximum of 30 transfers a year per person, and cash payout up to ₹50,000, above which the money must be credited to a bank account. It covers personal and family transfers, not business payments. Genuine remittances are not treated as taxable income.
Funding your transfer without overpaying
You fund the transfer from your Armenian bank account or in cash at the agent, or from a card online. If you pay by card, check first how your bank treats it. Some issuers process a money-transfer payment as a cash advance, which can add a one-off fee and interest from day one, quietly making a cheap-looking transfer expensive. And compare the exchange-rate margin, not just the fee.
Scams to watch on this route
The most common traps target the recipient in India. These few rules are worth passing on to whoever you're sending to.
The fake "release fee" message
Rule: be wary of a message claiming a transfer is "stuck" and needs a clearance, customs or tax fee to release it. Legitimate remittances on this route don't work that way, so never pay to unlock money.
Fake KYC or bank calls
Rule: nobody from the operator or a bank needs a PIN, OTP or full card number to "complete" or "verify" a payout. Never share a one-time code, and deal only through the operator's own channels.
Wrong account details
Rule: confirm the recipient's account number and IFSC code from something they sent in writing before you send, since a bank credit to the wrong account is hard to reverse.
Confirm before you send
Rule: use a verified operator rather than a stranger offering a better rate off-platform, and keep your reference number safe until the money is collected.
How most people send money from Armenia to India
For most people, the simplest route is MoneyGram or Ria paying out to an Indian bank account, sent from an Armenian bank or agent, or online. Cash is an option within the scheme's ₹50,000 limit. Because we can't show a live quote here yet, treat this page as a vetted shortlist, then judge each option by the rupees that actually arrive after the rate margin, and confirm the recipient's details before you send.

Cash payouts are usually available within minutes. Bank deposits are often same day but can take a couple of business days. The operator will give an estimated delivery time before you confirm.
