TransferGo Review Verdict

Our verdict

TransferGo is one of the best ways to send money from the UK to Europe, above all to Poland, Romania and Ukraine. It is fast, cheap on fixed fees, and clear about what your recipient gets.

You pick a speed, from a 30-minute instant payout to a free or near-free next-day option. The cost sits in a small exchange-rate margin, around 0.66% on average, though it runs wider on some routes such as euros.

So TransferGo is a strong pick for regular European sends and a fair one further afield. Just check the rate on your exact corridor, because the margin is not the same everywhere.

Best for

  • Sending to Poland and Central and Eastern Europe, fast
  • People who want a fixed quote and an exact landed amount
  • A free first transfer to test the service at only the FX cost

Look elsewhere if

  • You want the pure mid-market rate with no margin at all
  • You send large euro amounts where the margin can be wider
  • You need cash pickup, which is limited here

How Much Does TransferGo Cost to Send Money?

The fee and the exchange rate

TransferGo charges in two parts, and we checked both. There is a small fixed fee that depends on how fast you want the money to land, plus a margin built into the exchange rate.

The fixed fee is modest. Standard next-day delivery is about £0.99, and free on some European routes. Same-day runs £1.99 to £2.99, and the 30-minute instant tier is around £2.99.

The bigger cost is the rate margin. It averages roughly 0.66% above the mid-market rate, but it varies by corridor. Euros can carry a wider margin, while a route like Ukraine is keener.

The free first transfer

New customers usually get their first two transfers with the fixed fee waived, so you only pay the rate margin. There is also a referral scheme, currently a £20 bonus when a friend you invite completes a qualifying transfer.

Worked Examples: £1,000 to Poland and £1,000 to India

These are sourced figures dated 27 June 2026. Rates move daily, so check the live quote in the app before you commit.

Rate Fee Your recipient gets
Transfer to a Polish zloty account 4.8902 £0.99 standard ~zł4,885
Transfer to an Indian rupee account 124.56 £0 (waived) ~₹124,560

On Poland the £0.99 fee comes off first, then £999.01 converts at the quoted rate. On India the fixed fee is often waived, so the whole £1,000 converts and the cost is the rate margin.

Costs to watch

  • The rate margin is the real cost, and it is wider on some routes than others
  • The 30-minute instant tier costs more than the next-day option
  • Funding by credit card can trigger a cash-advance fee from your card issuer
  • A first transfer near £900 triggers an ID check that can pause the payment

Where Can You Send Money With TransferGo?

Countries and currencies

We confirmed TransferGo reaches 164 countries across 41 currencies, with more than 9 million customers. Its real strength is Europe, especially Poland, Romania, Lithuania and Ukraine, where payouts are fastest and fees are lowest.

Beyond Europe, India and the Philippines are major routes. For a busy corridor like sending money to Poland, TransferGo is one of the keenest options, with push-to-card payouts in minutes.

How a transfer reaches your recipient

  • Bank deposit, available to almost every supported country
  • Card payout, pushed to a Visa or Mastercard, common across Europe
  • Mobile wallet, such as GCash in the Philippines and wallets in Nigeria and Ghana
  • Cash pickup is limited, so look elsewhere if your recipient needs notes in hand

Limits

Card funding Up to £10,000 per transaction
Bank-transfer funding No TransferGo cap; your bank's daily limit applies
ID check trigger A first transfer near £900 needs ID and a selfie
Speed tiers 30 minutes, same day, or next-day standard

Who Is TransferGo Best For?

Regular sends to Europe

This is the heart of what TransferGo does. If you support family in Poland or send wages home to Romania or Ukraine, you get fast payouts, low fixed fees and a rate that is locked when you confirm.

For a weekly or monthly European send, that mix of speed and price is hard to beat, and the fixed quote means no nasty surprises.

Sending to family further afield

A fair choice, with a caveat. India and the Philippines are well served, and the fixed fee is frequently waived on India. Just compare the landed amount, because the rate margin does the earning.

Larger one-off transfers

Workable, with care. Bank-funded transfers have no TransferGo cap, but a sum near or above £900 will trigger an ID check, and very large amounts may need proof of where the money came from.

When another provider fits better

  • You want the exact mid-market rate with a single transparent fee
  • You send large euro amounts where the margin can widen
  • Your recipient needs cash pickup rather than a bank or wallet payout

TransferGo Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Fast payouts to Europe, including a 30-minute instant tier
  • Low fixed fees, free on some European routes
  • A free first transfer, then only the rate margin to pay
  • A locked quote, so the recipient gets the exact amount shown
  • Card, bank, wallet and Apple Pay funding, in 10 support languages

Cons

  • The exchange rate carries a margin, so it is not pure mid-market
  • That margin is wider on some corridors, such as euros
  • Safeguarded, not FSCS-protected, so no £120,000 deposit guarantee
  • Cash pickup is limited compared with the big remittance networks
  • ID checks around the £900 mark can pause a first transfer
07

Is TransferGo Safe?

How your money is protected

We checked the FCA Register. TransferGo Ltd is an authorised Electronic Money Institution under FRN 991295, regulated by the FCA.

Because it is an e-money firm, not a bank, your money is not covered by the FSCS. Instead it is safeguarded, held separately from the company's own funds at tier-one banking partners, so it is protected from creditors if the firm fails.

Its business savings accounts, run with Griffin, do carry FSCS cover.

Security and verification

The app uses two-factor login and encrypts your data in transit. For your first larger transfer, expect to upload a government ID and a selfie, and for very large sums, proof of the source of funds.

These checks are standard anti-fraud rules, not a TransferGo quirk. They are the main reason a first payment can be held, so allow extra time on your first send.

08

Using TransferGo: App, Funding and Support

The app. You set up a transfer, pick a speed, and see the exact amount your recipient will get before you confirm. The quote is locked when you pay.

Funding. Bank transfer and Pay by Bank are the cheapest ways to fund a send. Card and Apple Pay are faster and unlock the instant tier. Avoid a credit card, as your issuer may treat it as a cash advance.

Customer support. Help is available by in-app chat, email and phone, in English and nine other languages, on weekdays from 07:00 to 18:00 GMT. Cover is thinner at weekends, when a compliance hold can leave you waiting.

TransferGo Customer Reviews and Reputation

We read the recent reviews rather than just the score, and the picture is strongly positive, with a large number of ratings behind it.

Source Score Reviews As of
Trustpilot 4.6/5, "Excellent" ~38,452 Jun 2026
App Store 4.9/5 Apple Jun 2026
Google Play 4.8/5 Android Jun 2026

What people praise: the speed of the instant tier, the locked quote that shows the exact landed amount, and the easy app.

What goes wrong: delays when a transfer hits an ID or anti-money-laundering check, and slower support at weekends when those holds happen.

How Does TransferGo Compare?

For sending to Europe, TransferGo is one of the strongest options, and you can weigh it against the rest in our money transfer comparison.

On the rate, remember TransferGo adds a margin, so our Wise review shows the pure mid-market route with one clear fee. For cash pickup and a wide global network, our Remitly review is the natural rival on family remittances.

Rates move daily, and we refresh the live figures, so run a live comparison of today's rates and fees before you send. Businesses paying suppliers or staff abroad should also see international business payments.

11

Final Verdict: Is TransferGo Worth It?

TransferGo is the one to reach for when you send to Europe and want the money there fast, at a low fixed fee, with the exact amount shown up front.

For that job it is very good, and we rate it 4.4 out of 5. We found the European corridors quick and keen, and the locked quote a genuine comfort when rates are jumpy.

Just know the trade before you send: the rate carries a margin that widens on some routes, so on a big euro transfer in particular, compare the landed amount with a mid-market provider first.

TransferGo FAQs

You pay a small fixed fee plus a margin in the exchange rate. The fixed fee is about £0.99 for standard next-day, free on some European routes, and around £2.99 for a 30-minute instant transfer. The rate margin averages roughly 0.66%, but it is wider on some corridors.

TransferGo Ltd is an FCA-authorised e-money institution (FRN 991295). Your money is safeguarded in separate accounts at tier-one banks, not covered by the FSCS, because it is an e-money firm rather than a bank. Its business savings accounts, run with Griffin, do carry FSCS cover.

It depends on the tier you choose. The 30-minute instant option lands in minutes on supported routes, same-day arrives by the end of the working day, and standard delivery is next working day. European corridors such as Poland are the fastest.

The fixed fee is usually waived on your first two transfers, so you only pay the exchange-rate margin. Promo codes and a £20 referral bonus also circulate, though each has its own qualifying terms, so check the current offer in the app.
