BRAC Saajan Exchange Review Verdict

Our verdict

BRAC Saajan Exchange is a long-standing UK remittance firm built for the Bangladesh corridor. It is the UK arm of BRAC Bank, one of Bangladesh's biggest banks, which owns most of the business.

That bank backing is the real draw. Your money can land in a Bangladeshi bank account or a bKash wallet within minutes, and there is a wide branch and agent network here in the UK if you prefer to pay in person.

The catch is pricing you cannot see upfront. BRAC Saajan does not publish a public rate calculator, so you only get its fee and exchange rate after you register, which makes it hard to compare before you commit.

Best for

  • British-Bangladeshi senders who want a bank-backed name
  • Recipients who need instant bank or bKash payout in Bangladesh
  • People who prefer paying in cash at a UK branch or agent

Look elsewhere if

  • You want to see the exact rate and fee before signing up
  • You send to a corridor other than Bangladesh as your main route
  • You want the lowest published price, confirmed in advance

How Much Does BRAC Saajan Exchange Cost?

The pricing you cannot see upfront

Here is our main frustration. BRAC Saajan does not give you a public quote, so we could not confirm its exact fee or exchange-rate margin without creating an account.

The app, REMITnGO, promises the total cost upfront once you are in. We take that to mean no surprise charges at the end, but you still cannot compare it against a rival before you sign up.

So treat the rate you are shown in the app as the number that matters. Check it against the live market before you confirm any transfer, every time.

How to judge the rate you are offered

The fair benchmark is the mid-market rate, the one banks use between themselves. On 28 June 2026 that was about 162.4 BDT to the pound.

Any provider sits below that once its margin is added. We found two strong Bangladesh rivals landing very close to it, which sets a high bar for BRAC Saajan to beat.

When the app shows you a rate, divide the BDT your recipient gets by the pounds you send. If that figure is well under 160, the hidden margin is doing a lot of work.

Worked Example: Sending £1,000 to Bangladesh

We could not get a public BRAC Saajan quote, so we cannot place it on this table yet. Instead, here is the live corridor benchmark to test its in-app offer against. Figures are dated 28 June 2026 and move daily.

Provider Rate used Fee Recipient gets
Sonali Pay UK 162.100 £1.00 162,100 BDT
Wise 162.391 £8.93 160,940.85 BDT
BRAC Saajan Exchange Check in app Check in app

Read it like this. Sonali Pay passes on almost the whole market rate for a £1 fee, so your recipient nets about 162,100 BDT on £1,000.

Wise charges a clear £8.93 but uses the exact mid-market rate, landing close behind. When BRAC Saajan shows you its number, it needs to get near these to be worth it.

Costs to watch

  • You cannot see the rate or fee until you register
  • Compare the BDT total, not just the headline fee
  • A weak exchange rate can cost more than a small fee saves
04

Where and How Can You Send Money?

Bangladesh first, then a wider list

Bangladesh is the heart of this service. We found your recipient can take the money as a deposit to any Bangladeshi bank account, an instant credit to a partner bank, a bKash wallet top-up, or a cash collection.

Since late 2025 the firm has widened out to around 27 countries, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. Even so, Bangladesh remains the route it is built around and known for.

If Bangladesh is your route, it helps to see how the whole market prices it. Compare the field on the UK to Bangladesh money transfer route before you commit.

Payout options and speed

Method Speed
bKash mobile wallet Within minutes
Instant credit to a partner bank Within minutes
Deposit to any other bank Within days
Cash pickup at a partner branch Next working day

One limit to note sits on the Bangladesh side, not with BRAC Saajan. A bKash wallet can receive up to 250,000 BDT per inbound remittance under the central bank's rules.

05

Who Is BRAC Saajan Exchange Best For?

British-Bangladeshi families sending home

This is the core case. If you regularly support family in Bangladesh, you get a bank-owned provider, fast bKash and bank payout, and Bengali-speaking branches you can walk into.

You are trading the lowest possible price for the reassurance of a known, bank-backed name.

People who like paying in person

A genuine strength. With branches in Birmingham and London and hundreds of UK agent locations, you can hand over cash and send a transfer without doing it all on a phone.

That suits anyone who would rather not fund a transfer by card or app.

Price-led senders who compare first

Not the natural fit. If you want to see the exact rate and fee before you commit, the lack of a public quote is a real drawback for you.

A provider that shows its price upfront will suit you better here.

When another provider fits better

  • You want a published rate you can check before registering
  • You send mainly to a country other than Bangladesh
  • You are chasing the lowest confirmed cost on the corridor

  • Fast bKash and bank payout, often within minutes
  • Branches and hundreds of UK agents for in-person sending
  • FCA authorised payment institution with safeguarded funds
  • Solid Trustpilot and app-store ratings, if from small samples

Cons

  • No public rate calculator, so you cannot compare upfront

  • Funds are safeguarded, not FSCS-protected
  • The parent has topped up its capital after FCA shortfalls
07

Is BRAC Saajan Exchange Safe?

Who runs it

We checked the FCA Register. BRAC Saajan Exchange Limited is an authorised payment institution under firm reference number 577104, regulated to move your money under UK rules.

It is a subsidiary of BRAC Bank PLC, which owns about 94% of it. That gives you a large, established bank standing behind a firm that has served the UK-Bangladesh corridor for some 20 years.

How your money is protected

Because it is a payment institution, not a bank, your money is safeguarded rather than FSCS-protected. Customer funds must be held separately from the firm's own money.

That is the standard model for transfer firms and it is sound. It just does not carry the bank-style FSCS guarantee you would get on a UK savings account.

A capital point worth knowing

We report one thing neutrally. Filings show the firm dipped below its FCA minimum capital in 2023, 2024 and 2025, each time fixed by cash from its parent.

BRAC Bank injected fresh capital and an overdraft facility to put it right. It is worth knowing, though the parent's backing is exactly what closed the gap.

08

Using BRAC Saajan Exchange: App, Branches and Support

Getting started. You sign up through the REMITnGO app or online, or in a branch, and complete the usual ID checks before your first send. You then add your recipient's bank or bKash details.

Paying. You can fund a transfer by debit card or bank transfer in the app, or pay cash at a UK branch or agent. The app shows your all-in cost before you confirm.

Support. The firm advertises round-the-clock help by phone and email, with in-branch staff who speak Bengali. That matters when you are sorting a payout problem for family back home.

09

BRAC Saajan Exchange Customer Reviews and Reputation

We read the reviews rather than only the scores, and the picture is positive but thin, so treat the ratings as a steer rather than proof.

Source Score Reviews As of
Trustpilot 4.6/5 ~20 Jun 2026
Apple App Store (REMITnGO) 4.5/5 172 Jun 2026

What people praise: reliable transfers that arrive fast, the reassurance of the bank link, and helpful staff in branch and on the phone.

What to watch: the review counts are small, so a few experiences move the score. We would weigh the bank backing and FCA status more heavily than a 20-review average.

10

How Does BRAC Saajan Exchange Compare?

On this corridor the question is simple: can a bank-owned name beat the cheap specialists on price? You can see the wider field in our money transfer comparison.

The two rivals to weigh it against both publish their pricing. Our Sonali Pay UK review covers another Bangladesh bank arm that passes on almost the full market rate, while our Wise review looks at a transparent, mid-market option.

Rates move daily, and we refresh the live figures, so run a live comparison of today's rates and fees before you send. Then check BRAC Saajan's in-app quote against what those two deliver on the same £1,000.

11

Final Verdict: Is BRAC Saajan Exchange Worth It?

BRAC Saajan Exchange gives you a bank-backed, well-established way to send money to Bangladesh, with fast payout and a real-world branch network most apps cannot match. For trust and speed, it is a strong option.

For reach and reassurance it earns its keep, which is why we land at 3.5 out of 5. The BRAC Bank ownership and FCA status are genuine comfort for sending family money.

What holds it back is the hidden pricing. Until you can see the rate and fee, you cannot know if it beats the cheap, transparent specialists on this corridor. Get your in-app quote, compare the BDT your recipient receives, and only then decide.

BRAC Saajan Exchange FAQs

Yes. BRAC Saajan Exchange Limited is an FCA-authorised payment institution (FRN 577104) and a subsidiary of BRAC Bank of Bangladesh. Your money is safeguarded in segregated accounts, the standard model for transfer firms, though it is not FSCS-protected like a bank deposit.

It is fast for the main payout methods. Money to a bKash wallet or an instant-credit partner bank usually arrives within minutes, while a standard bank deposit can take a few days and cash pickup is typically ready the next working day.

The firm does not publish its fees or exchange rate online, so you only see the full cost after you register in the REMITnGO app. Always compare the BDT your recipient receives against a transparent rival before you confirm, as the exchange-rate margin can matter more than the fee.
