BCRemit Review Verdict

Our verdict

BCRemit is a money transfer service built around one route: sending pounds from the UK to the Philippines. It is a UK, Filipino-founded specialist, run under the slogan "by Filipinos, for Filipinos".

Its strengths are price and reach. The flat fee is low, the rate margin looked modest, and the payout network runs from major banks to GCash wallets to thousands of cash counters, plus Philippine bill payments most rivals skip.

The catch is that it is not always the cheapest, and the reviews we read carry a run of held-transfer complaints tied to identity checks. Much of the published data is also single-source, so treat the figures as a guide.

Best for

  • Sending to family in the Philippines by bank, wallet or cash pickup
  • Households that also want to pay Philippine bills such as SSS or Pag-IBIG
  • People who value a Filipino-founded service with 24/7 bilingual support

Look elsewhere if

  • You want the lowest total cost on a plain bank-to-bank transfer
  • You are chasing a one-off promotional rate on a first transfer
  • You send mainly to countries other than the Philippines

How Much Does BCRemit Cost?

A low flat fee, whatever you send

BCRemit charges a flat fee that depends on how the money is collected, not on how much you send. We found it costs about £2.99 to a bank account or e-wallet, and about £3.99 for cash pickup, dated July 2026.

The fee does not climb with the amount, so £2.99 covers a £200 transfer or a £1,000 one. New customers also get a fee-free first transfer, and a referral pays £5 in credit.

A modest rate margin on top

The other half of the cost is the exchange rate. BCRemit adds a small margin over the mid-market rate, which our figures put at roughly three-quarters of one percent on the day we modelled it.

You see the live rate and the full fee on the website calculator before you sign up, so you can price a transfer first. We could not confirm how long a quoted rate is then held.

03

Worked Example: Sending £1,000 to the Philippines

This uses the live mid-market rate of 81.62 on 1 July 2026 and BCRemit's modelled margin. The fee is charged on top. Rates move daily, so treat this as a snapshot and check the live figure before you send.

Provider Rate Fee Recipient gets
BCRemit ~81.05 ~£2.99 ~80,800 PHP
Wise ~81.62 (mid) ~£6.60 ~81,080 PHP
Remitly ~82.96 (first transfer) ~£1.99 ~82,800 PHP

Read it like this. BCRemit's flat fee is the lowest of the three, and its rate sits just under the mid-market, so on price it is competitive rather than dominant.

The gap tells the real story. Wise still delivers a few hundred more pesos on a plain bank deposit because it uses the mid-market rate, and Remitly's headline number only stands up on a promotional first transfer. BCRemit's case rests on payout reach, not on topping the table.

Costs to watch

  • The figures here are modelled, not a live quote, so confirm the rate in the app
  • Cash pickup costs about £1 more than a bank or wallet payout
  • A rival's promotional rate can beat it on a one-off first transfer

Where and How Can You Send Money?

The Philippines, covered in depth

This is a single-corridor service, from the UK to the Philippines, and the payout network is its real advantage. We found options that stretch well beyond a simple bank deposit, plus a bill-payment feature that most rivals lack.

Bank deposits reach BDO, BPI, Metrobank, Landbank, UnionBank and more. Cash can be collected at more than 15,000 points such as Cebuana Lhuillier, M Lhuillier, Palawan and LBC, and wallets cover GCash and Maya.

There is also a bill-payment option for Philippine contributions such as SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG and OWWA, and even property amortisation. That is a genuine point of difference.

If the Philippines is your route, it pays to see how the wider market prices it, so compare the field on the send money to the Philippines route before you commit.

Speed and access

Method Speed
E-wallet such as GCash Within minutes
Cash pickup Usually within minutes
Bank deposit Minutes to the same business day

BCRemit says payouts run around the clock, including weekends, which many rivals cannot match on a Philippine holiday.

You send from the BCRemit app on iOS or Android, or from the website, and there are no UK branches. Funding works by debit card or an Open Banking bank transfer, and a bank transfer clears in real time without a card surcharge.

05

Who Is BCRemit Best For?

Families who need flexible payout

This is the core case. If your recipient collects cash in a provincial town, wants money in a GCash wallet, or banks with BDO or BPI, BCRemit covers all three, and cash reach runs to thousands of counters.

You also get support in Filipino as well as English, around the clock.

Households paying Philippine bills

A natural fit. BCRemit lets you settle Philippine contributions such as SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG, and even property payments, alongside a normal transfer, which a pure send-money app will not do.

That built-in bill payment is a genuine reason to pick it.

Cost-first and non-Philippines senders

Less of a fit. If you only want the lowest price on a bank-to-bank send, a mid-market app often returns a little more, and a rival's first-transfer promo can beat it once.

BCRemit has long served only the Philippines, so other destinations are not its home ground.

When another provider fits better

  • You want the lowest total cost on a straight bank-to-bank send
  • You are chasing a one-off promotional rate on a first transfer
  • You send mainly to countries other than the Philippines

Pros

  • Low flat fee, from about £2.99 to a bank or wallet
  • Fee-free first transfer and a £5 referral credit
  • Deep Philippine payout: banks, GCash, Maya and 15,000+ cash points

  • Reviews flag transfers held for identity and source-of-funds checks
  • The Philippines has been the only established destination
  • Most published figures are single-source and need a live check
07

Is BCRemit Safe?

Who runs it

We checked the FCA Register. BCRemit is a trading name of BC Remittance Ltd, an Authorised Payment Institution under firm reference number 929078, holding money-remittance permission under the Payment Services Regulations.

The firm has been on the FCA register since November 2020 and is based in London, run as a UK, Filipino-founded business focused on the Philippines.

How your money is protected

This is where a payments firm differs from a bank. BCRemit is not a bank, so your money is not covered by the FSCS savings guarantee. Instead it is safeguarded, meaning customer funds are held in segregated accounts, separate from the firm.

Safeguarding is the standard protection for an authorised payments firm. It is designed so your transfer money is ring-fenced if the company were to fail, rather than insured like a bank deposit.

Checks and security

Expect standard onboarding. We found BCRemit verifies you with photo ID, and larger or more frequent transfers can trigger source-of-funds questions that hold the payment until you reply.

Those held-payment checks are the main complaint in reviews, so keep your documents ready for a bigger send. The recipient's name must match their ID exactly at a cash counter, so enter it with care.

08

Using BCRemit: App, Funding and Support

Getting started. Download the BCRemit app on iOS or Android, or use the website, then verify your identity with a photo ID. You add a recipient by their bank, wallet or cash-pickup details before you send.

Paying. Fund a transfer with a debit card or an Open Banking bank transfer. A bank transfer keeps the cost down and clears in real time, and your first transfer is free.

Support. Help runs around the clock, in English and Filipino, by in-app chat, email and phone. Reviewers single out the support as quick and genuinely bilingual, which is rarer than it sounds.

09

BCRemit Customer Reviews and Reputation

We read the reviews rather than only the scores, and BCRemit comes off well, with one clear caveat. The scores are high, and the praise centres on speed, fair rates and responsive support.

Source Score Reviews As of
Trustpilot 4.9/5 ~172 Jul 2026
Google Play 4.6/5 ~267 Jul 2026
Apple App Store 5.0/5 Few ratings Jul 2026

What people praise: fast payouts, competitive rates, an easy app, and 24/7 support in Filipino and English.

What goes wrong: the recurring complaint is a transfer held or blocked for identity and source-of-funds checks, usually on a larger send. It matters when family are waiting, so send any documents promptly if you are asked.

10

How Does BCRemit Compare?

On this route the real test is the pesos received and how they arrive, and you can see the wider field in our money transfer comparison.

Two other Filipino specialists price differently. Our Kabayan Remit review covers a low-fee app with a free first transfer, while our PNB Europe review looks at a bank-backed rival with its own branch network. Two more Filipino specialists are worth weighing: our iRemit and Metro Remittance UK reviews.

Rates move daily, and we refresh the live figures, so run a live comparison of today's rates and fees before you send. Then weigh BCRemit's payout reach and support against the slightly lower cost a mid-market app can offer.

11

Final Verdict: Is BCRemit Worth It?

BCRemit is a legitimate, FCA-authorised way to send money to the Philippines, built by a Filipino team for that one route. Its flat fee is low, the rate margin is modest, and the payout network is genuinely deep, from cash counters to GCash to Philippine bill payments.

What holds it back is the detail. On a plain bank deposit a mid-market app can return a little more, a rival's first-transfer promo can beat it once, funds are safeguarded rather than FSCS-protected, and reviews carry a run of held-transfer complaints.

For Philippines remittance it earns 3.5 out of 5. Use it for its payout reach, bill payments and bilingual support, but compare the total cost against a mid-market app first, and keep your ID ready in case a transfer is held for checks.
